TSS: Gautami's Reading Room changes

I managed to get hold of this 3- Column Template from my archives. It is same as the one I used for Reading Room. I want that all of you should feel at home on my new blog.

By now, most of you know that my blog Reading Room was deleted by google/blogger because it supposedly contained Malware. I tried to get help from but no one is responding at the help forum. Like most others, I had no back-up for it. I lost 663 posts without any warning or notification to me. I had put up so much of man hours and had built up a community of book blogs around myself. I lost everything at one go.

My advise for all of you is to back-up your posts!

In some kind of madness, I had subscribed my own blog in the reader and find that it was the best thing I could do. I can see all my posts and retrieval is not beyond my reach now. First, I will retrieve the book reviews as well short stories. Then I will see about getting around other posts, like my reflections on reading and books, Weekly Geeks, Booking through Thursday, Musing Monday etc etcs. Worse scenario is, I can't retrieve any of your comments. I lost all of that.

I have already written a post about it, and put something akin to this on my left sidebar but decided to post it again for Sunday Salon, where many will see it and know about my temporary disappearance. Please help spread word about this blog. I have already created the blogroll. If you are not there, do let me know. I will add you. Please do bear with me until I do.

My comments section is always open and my email id: gautami.tripathy[at]gmail.com. Don't hesitate to contact me for anything.

PS: I have subscribed to almost all of you on my google reader. Don't forget to follow me, subscribe to me or adding me to your blogroll! And I also request you to keep my old blog on your blogroll and/or google follow me feature, for some more days. Who knows, I might get it back.

I just wanted you to know that I do follow your blog and I'm so sorry for all the blogging blunder that has recently happened to you. It is devastating, but I'm glad that you have now been able to retrieve most of your old blog. :)

I am so sorry about this disaster! This is a nightmare for you. I had no idea something like this could happen, so I appreciate the warning.

It will take only a little while, and every one will track you down - have no fear! :) Take care, and keep writing.

Ugh...I did not realize that could happen. I have subscribed to your blog via Google Reader.

Question: How would I back up my blog?

I still can't get over what a pain the butt this has got to be for you! I'm not quite sure how to back up, but I am now subscribed to my own blog w/ google reader.

I really like your 3 column layout. It's nice and clean. I am annoyed with the margins on mine but can't seem to figure out how to change it. I'm so not the technical savvy one! LOL.

(Oh and when you get a chance can you add me to your blogroll? Thanks :) )

I was so sorry to hear what had happened to you!

Good luck to you on this process of recreating your posts.

Hooray for little blessings like the Google Reader. I've subscribed to you. It must be toilsome to re-post everything, but no pressure, take your time. We'll still be here reading you.

I'm so sorry about losing all your posts! I'm not 100% sure how you even go about backing up something like this, but I'll look into it today. Thanks for the advice passed along to all of us!

I am soooo sorry this happened to you. What a horrible thing. But I'm glad you've bounced right back and are here with us so fast. I hope retrieving your posts won't be too difficult over time.

I'm sure we all had to learn this lesson because of what happened to you. I've been so impressed by your attitude, though. I think I would be ready to give up.

I also subscribe to my own blog in my reader--the reason is to see for myself how it would appear to other subscribers. Didn't realize that it would be a good way to retrieve lost posts.

I also admire you for getting back on your feet right away after this fiasco!

I'm so glad you're back but I'm so so sorry that you lost everything :( That's just so sad. I've backed up my blog after reading about what happened to you the other day and hopefully you'll save a lot of other people from having to go through this too. And it's awesome that you rebuilt your blog :) Some would've just given up. Glad to see you back!

I subscribe to my own blog via RSS Atom Feed and via email. That way, I get two email copies of my posts. I save all of them. I'm not sure if the hyperlinks or photos would easily copy over, but at least the text is all there.

Believe me... I totally fear this happening to me! I'm so sorry that it happened to you.

My thoughts are with yoU!

I am sorry that this terrible thing happened to you (and that you had such difficulty getting help). Hang in there, and keep doing what you do so well.

I'm going to add this blog to my sidebar. So glad you are able to restore some of your former blog! After that happened to you, I backed mine up on my external hard drive by using the export feature. I'm going to try to back up once a week just in case!

I noticed that my reading blog is not on your sidebar but I don't do official reviews. I just like keeping track of what I read mostly for myself. Anyway, if you want to add it, it's http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com.

I noticed that you kept the word verification on this one. Does that help guard against malware? Now, I wondering if I should enable mine!

Hi Guatami - I know you've come to my blog, so I finally find yours, and I'm so sad to see you lost your old one with all the posts! And due to Malware, and that Blogger isn't helping - that's just shameful. I will try to back up my posts, but I'm technologically challenged, which means last time I did anything, I lost my blog and had to recreate it. so I've been here too - only mine wasn't wiped out by someone else. I'm glad your still with us, you leave such insightful comments and its' a joy for me to finally find you! I've added you to my blogroll already.

Last Sunday, I kept wondering what was going on with your blog when I tried to visit. Kept getting those warnings and then could not access. At least you have it in Google Reader no matter how inconvenient it will be to restore. And, of course, they are still so many great ideas in your head yet to come. And we will all hang out for those!

I can't believe what you've been thru with your blog! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've been wondering what was going on. I hope you are able to get everything back soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your blog! You've done a great job already and your warnings and advice will be helpful to others. I thought getting all of the "ed" spam was bad, I can't imagine what you've had to deal with! I never thought about subscribing to myself but I will now and I'll pass that on to others too. I'm following you again and subscribing to your blog. Best wishes and keep writing!

I still can't believe your blog was deleted, I think I'd be pretty devastated. A wake up call for a lot of us. You've done well to get back up and running so quickly. I'll add this new one to my Reader. Good luck with the rest of the retrieval.

Gautami,
I'm so sorry to hear about your disaster. That's devastating news and absolutely heartbreaking for you! If there's anything I can do to help then please just ask, and I mean that!

They say that the things that go wrong in our lives make us stronger, so hopefully that's a positive to take away from this.

Think of it as chance to start afresh, and don't worry about losing all of your friends and followers. As most people have said, they'll come and find you again.
Warmest regards
Rob
