Wondrous Words Wednesday

vocabulary
I found those following interesting words in Rooftops of Tehran by Mahbod Seraji. (Please do click on the title to read my review).

These are of Persian origin: :

Kharab-kars ( page 81): Subversive activists

Kad Khoda (page161): The mayor

Espand (page 256): A type of herb seed burnt on charcoal to keep the evil eye away from children

Great words I knew they had to be foreign in origin. Thanks for participating this week.

Your review of that book was very made it sound very intriguing. I've only read Lipstick Jihad about contemporary Iran but it really sounds like a complex and interesting society.
