Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?
One ought not ask it! Most of us, no ALL of us are book gluttons. It's like gimme more, gimme more! I am bookoholic, book coveter, book conquerer or book anything. I have a huge pile of un-read books, more than 180, I think. It ought to last me over an year. But has it stopped me from buying books? No way! I read 10 books a month on an average. I do buy even if I have so many unread books. Like they say, I gotta do it.
As I don't buy too many clothes or too many of anything else, I think I can be excused for my book gluttony. If I am in the vicinity of any book store, I can't escape it without ending up with more books. And I always buy more than five books at a time. Less is not enough for me. Last time I was in, I bought 12 books. My mom freaked out!

Wot say, folk?

I'm with you, Gautami, but every now and then I feel I should stop and not buy any books for a while. See my answer here.
Absolutely!!!
But then I buy too many clothes and shoes too, but I still say I should be excused for being a book glutton :)
You and me both, Gautami. And I'm happy to see that your pile is worse than mine! I started with 140+ but have been whittling it down slowly.
My answer is here.
Me too! Book glutton, can't help it, but like you I don't spend money on clothes, don't drink or smoke! I buy books! Is there a twelve step program for us? LOL
Yup, I'm a glutton too! I'm with you though, I don't buy much other stuff, so I think it's okay to spend my spare money on books. =)
If you actually stop to work it out reading is a very cheap hobby - it is much better to spend a bit of money on a book which will take you several hours to read, a few more to blog about, and then the joy of passing it on. That's what I keep telling myself anyway!
Me, too - I have many more than 180 unread books. And that seems perfectly reasonable to me. But I admit, I'm a book glutton too!
The last time I started to count my unread books was about a year and a half ago. I got around 100 so I'm definitely a Book Glutton!
Hey are you kidding??? 180 TBR???? Owh.. You're totally a glutton!!!! :)
Buying books is no more a want, but a need nowadays. Since I also don't buy other stuffs regularly, but when it comes to books, I have to do it on monthly basis!
Let's unite!!
As evident by my closet - I do not spend money on clothes or jewelry. I enjoy going out to dinner, but I rarely spend money on any other forms of entertainment. So my only real vice is buying books. And, as I rationalize, I always try to buy on sale so it is even more affordable!
I think we are all in the same boat with this one!
You DO realize that I very well might make up a package of books (once I've read them) and send them your way????
Don't tempt me!
Instead of buying I borrow from the local library. I always borrow too many though and always have to bring back books that I haven't read. But I keep them on my TBR list with the hope that I will borrow it again or break down and buy it!
While I lived abroad, Waterstones used to be my financial disaster waiting to happen.
Things have not improved much, back home..
Book Gluttons of the World Unite!!!
Ps. Thanks for stepping by today :)
Hope to see you again, sometime...
MBH = Missy The Book Hog. LOL!
I don't buy many books...most of mine come from Paperbackswap or Bookmooch. I also love hunting for books at Goodwill and Salvation Army.
My name is Holly, and I love books... LOL!
My TBR pile is huge, and new ones arrive every week, adding to it. And then, I have this habit of reserving too many books at the library and not having enough time to read them all before they need to go back...
But, can you really have too many? No.
Phew - I feel a bit better now!
You sound like me - books are my one indulgence. I'll look at something in a store and think I could buy a book for the same amount of money, so I'll put it back.
An addict that's what I am but at least it's not an unhealthy addiction.
It's the same over here too. It's hard to stop when new ones keep begging to be bought!
Proud to be one, but I try not to buy. I grab the ones that I'm most desperate to read and leave the rest on a list.
Whoa! I thought I had a looong TBR list with about 84 books, but 180 - truly impressive.
Love the blog, by the way :)
I'm exactly the same way! Like you, I don't buy too many clothes or anything else. Books are my downfall.
Aren't we all book gluttons? I know that all of my book-blogging friends have an unquenchable passion for books. :)
OM gosh, Gautami, you had me laughing so hard tears formed.
"Book gluttons of the world, Unite!" is my new slogan... thanks!!!
Book conqueror, that is us all bibliophiles! Plus, I have an active imagination and I just think if all the libraries in the world burned down at least I'll have some 'saved' copies!
Is there any such thing as too many books? :)
Thanks for visiting my blog! I am the same as you, my mood greatly determines my choice of book! Hope you have a good weekend.
I just figure that there are so many worse things I could spend my money on! I never feel guilty for buying books when I have so many at home left unread... overwhelmed when I look at the sheer volume of them, yes. Not really guilty, though!
Ever added up the amount of pages in those books on the TBR list? I do NOT recommend it!
You need to be prepared. What if we all got quarantined? We'd need lots of supplies right? In case we were there a long time and had lots of time to read ... actually, it's not sounding that bad!
I am a book glutton, cant help it :O)
