Started by Marcia, this August, Monday Mailbox is hosted by Shanyn at Chick Loves Lit.
I received the following two books (Click on the image for larger picture), thanks to the authors/publicists:
Everything seems in order when nine-year-old Sarah Trainor is picked up for her first away-from-home summer camp: a Camp Arno van arrives with an appropriately clad counselor bearing parental consent forms. But when another Camp Arno van stops minutes later at their Westchester home, Lena Trainor discovers that her daughter and three other children have been kidnapped; a $1 million ransom is eventually demanded. It seems a well-executed scheme, with no single perpetrator having all the critical information, until the inevitable mistake is made. First-novelist Magee has an intriguing premise here, with his narrative alternating between the children in the wilderness of the Adirondacks and their desperate parents fending off the media as they unite to take action.
Everyone wants a piece of millionaire Bennett Marshfield, owner of Marshfield Manor, but now it's up to a new curator Grace Wheaton and handsome groundskeeper Jack Embers to protect dear old Marshfield. But to do this, they'll have to investigate a botched Ponzi scheme, some torrid Wheaton family secrets-and sour grapes out for revenge.

In the past week:I finished:
Literally nothing!
I am in the midst of reading:
The Prince of Tebron by C S Lakin
I posted reviews of:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If your house was burning down –and you could SAFELY grab a book on your way outside to safety– what book would you make sure you ‘rescued’? Why?
Firstly, the very thought of my books burning is unthinkable. I would want to rescue each and every one of those. However, to 'rescue' only one, I would pick all my poetry collection. These include Robert Browning, Robert Burns, Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Sylvia Plath, Mary Oliver, Pablo Neruda, e e cummings, and lot more. I can't think of leaving those behind.
Never Wave Goodbye looks like a good one! I hope this week is a great week in books for you.
I just finished a book called Grace Under Pressure but it was by a different author.
Enjoy your books. Here's what I received.
I read Grace Under Pressure and can't wait to see your thoughts on the book as to if we agree or disagree. Enjoy!!!
I really enjoyed your Never Wave Goodbye review and put it on my list. Happy reading!
Looking forward to Never Wave Goodbye...enjoy them all.
Never Wave Goodbye looks like a terrific debut novel!
Good for you for finishing nothing! This means you didn't force reading into your life. It's so sad when we force it, reading should be a great experience. That said, I hope you found time to relax and read :).
Have a great week!
Great books this week!! Enjoy your reading!
Hope you like your new books! Happy reading. My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
Grace Under Pressure looks good...simply love that cover!
Thanks for reminding me of Musings...I tend to forget that one.
Here's my Mailbox/Reading post:
I would try and save them all. Here is my Musing Monday.
My Monday is here. Have a good week! Katie x
oh my goodness... the thought of having to pick one book to save from my burning house (nightmare!).. AUGH
I would have to choose the Louisa May Alcott gilded edged book that my late father had given me.
Though the thought is horrific to picture my other books going up! I know I would attempt to grab much more than one!
I like the premise of Never Wave Goodbye. Sounds like a good read, maybe a bit like Linwood Barclay (that wouldn't be bad!).
Happy reading! http://leeswammes.wordpress.com
Lol did this question also give you an anxiety attack trying to figure out which one you'll take?
I would like to save all my books as well, but, the question was, if we could only save only one book. I notice everyone is having a difficult time picking just one book. I guess it goes without saying, We love our books. ; )
Let's hope and pray that none of us has to make the choice of what to save! I have too much to chose from.
yes...but if just one?
Magee's book looks like something my husband might really enjoy. I personally prefer international crime fiction, where he sticks to home-grown American authors. Thanks for the post...I'm always on the lookout for new things for him - he's so picky!
gautami, this comment is about your "musing." I agree that selecting our favorites is the way to go.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
On your musings, great choice! I'd want to rescue that book also. =)
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
Those all sounds like interesting reads.
Books on fire! What a horrible thought. It would take me so long to decide which one to rescue, I'd probably go up in flames right along with them!
Grace Under Pressure looks like fun.
I just don't know which book I would rescue. Maybe an autographed one. Yikes, there would be too many choices!
Enjoy your books!
Both books look good.
So many books, so little time. :)
Both books look good but Never Wave Goodbye looks like a page turner! I'll keep my eyes open for that one! Happy reading!
Many of the poets you listed are among my favorites as well.
Never Wave GoodBye sounds good to me! I can't think of one book i would want to save!
I love this question! Here is the RTP answer!
Romancing The Page - if your house burnt down..
I agree. The idea of my books burning is unthinkable. Still in the spirit of the question here's my answer http://thebookishsnob.blogspot.com
Great review by the way :D
I enjoyed Grace Under Pressure, even if it won't make my top 10 of the year. I'll be interested to see what you think!
Never Wave Goodbye sounds good, but I'm not even looking at books with children in jeopardy for a while, I've had quite a streak of them.
Never Wave Goodbye caught my eye, but after recently finishing Living Dead Girl, I'm not sure I could read it right now. Looking forward to your thoughts, though.
Never Wave Goodbye does sound good - it must be fall - I am in the mood for mysteries :D
Happy reading
great mailbox, I've heard Never Wave Goodbye is good.
I agree, Pablo Neruda is worth saving from a fire :)
Sean Connery faced a real dilemma in "The Name of the Rose" when the library was burning!
