Best Reads of 2010/BTT

I was in a reading slump for more than four months. Yet I managed to read 96 novels and on my 97th now. No, I will not reach 100! But that is okay. I read a lot of Crime Fiction. Here I post 15 best reads of 2010, in no particular order. They are in reading order, though..

Honourable mentions:

the clouds roll away Sibella Giorella (CF)
The Murderer's Daughters by Randy Susan Meyers
Tomorrow River by Lesley Kagen
The Language of Secrets by Dianne Dixon
Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas
Inside Out by Barry Eisler (CF)
The Gendarme by Mark T Mustian
Mr. Peanut by Adam Ross (CF)
The Language of Trees by Ilie Ruby
The Tale of Halcyon Crane by Wendy Webb

I read a lot of poetry but if one counts book wise, I read only one poetry book:

Taste of Cherry by Kara Candito

Here I would like to say that as I am kind of selective in my reading, there isn't a Worst book status. And for favourite book, I think the novels listed above are favourite in way or the other.

I love The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played With Fire :) I still need to read the last one.

Also really loved the Gendarme! I've heard awesome things about Mr. Peanut so I'm hoping to read that in 2011 some time.

I think you did fantastic in spite of the reading slump. I hope 2011 is better for you and that you get back into the swing of reading.

I love some of those on the list.

Almost 100 books is brilliant! Glad to see you have the Stieg Larsson books in your top-15. I enjoyed them a lot too, but I read them before 2010 so couldn't count them this year.

You must be a speed reader to have read that many books and also had a reading slump as well. Happy reading.

I found it difficult to choose best of the best. My Booking Through Thursday.

Wow, you read almost twice as much as I did! I could only narrow it down to a top ten, as well. I've only heard of one on your list.

You had a pretty good reading year! I haven't read any of these so I'm going to look a few of them up. Happy New Year!

Fabulous list. The entire Millenium Trilogy falls into my "most entertaining" category, which I didn't mention in my 12 books of the year list. I've got a few in the pile from your list. The Language of Secrets is one that I look forward to reading.

Happy New Year! :)

The Likeness and the Stieg Larsson books are very deserving of your list! I didn't break 100 books either but hopefully next year!

Whata great list! Glad to see The Likeness on your list. I really liked In the Woods and I have The Likeness in my pile, right now. Excited! Happy New Year!!!

You had a great year! I really enjoyed Secret Keeper, Likeness, and Hornet's Nest, too. :) Happy New Year, Gautami.

I almost bought Saving Max at the bookstore last night. But I think I'll just get a copy from the library.

Thanks for sharing.

Great Post! Loved reading through your year of reading bests! I loved the Steig Larsson books too! Although I have the third to finish. And Tom Rob Smith was a surprise author for me this year- I didn't think I would enjoy him as much as I did. Child 44 is in my TBR pile because of that. I've also written down a few other great suggestions from your best reads too! Thanks for sharing!

Happy New Year!

I went through a long reading slump as well. The Year of the Tiger (2010) was a bad one for me. Hopefully the Year of the Rabbit, this year, will be a big improvement.

I enjoyed the Larsson Trilogy and still have to start Venom. Child44 seems to be a favorite, one I'll have to look at.

Happy New Year to you and yours and great reading and writing (poetry) this year!

Wow, I haven't read any of these (and only one of your honorable mentions). These kind of lists make my TBR grow even faster.

It looks like you had a great reading year, Gautami, even despite the slump. I really enjoyed The Secret Keeper when I read it last year. And The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo made my favorites list this year. Hopefully I'll get to The Likeness and finish off Larsson's trilogy one of these days. That's the plan anyway.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year!

I had one of the same slumps. You did great. I really need to read the Larsson books this year. Obviously, you really loved them.
I also really liked The Language of Secrets. Happy New Year!

Bummer, I also went through a bit of a slump. The way I got out of it was by reading my absolutely favorite kind of book - memoirs - pretty exclusively until the bad juju went away. I blame The Elegance of the Hedgehog for the juju.

Hurray - The Likeness is in your top 10 too! Isn't it a great book?

I read and loved Stieg Larsson last year too.

Darlene said...

Fantastic list! I really loved Under This Unbroken Sky as well.

You had a great year. 95 is amazing amount of books considering you were in a reading slump for so long. I have the Larsson books in my TBR and they look good.

Happy New Year!

The only one on you list that I have read is In the Wake of Forgiveness. I just finished it last night. I liked it but it won't be on any of my favourites lists. Happy New Year!

Good job. I'll be reading the Stieg Larson books sometime this year. Just discovered I'm following you anonymously in my reader. Going to fix that.

Kathleen said...

Great list. 97 is good for a large reading slump. I had a reading slump too. No wonder you read so much crime fiction since a lot of it is in your best list.

The only one I've read is Inside Out, but many of the others are on my wish list. I love reading everyone's favorites lists :)
