Sunday Salon: September reading, a pitiful total

Looking at my September total, I really feel so bad. I could read only three novels. And one is a pretty light read. I started so many but couldn't get through any of those. My mind was not into reading. It still is not. I don't know what to do. My target was 12 books a month, that makes it 108 till date. I finished only 83! I don't think I will make it. Coming back, I read the following, 81 and 82 being mystery novels: :

I have a reading slump but my poetry writing has not stopped. In fact I am writing lot more than I usually do. Today in the morning, I wrote two poems and last night I wrote one. Somehow my words are flowing and I have to get those out. Here I write about my reading slump:

I hunt for you
not finding you anywhere
when did you leave me?
in a place I don't like
where I can't find you

I am not sure if I will read anything at all, today. The Commonwealth Games start from today.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Numbers in the scheme of things are really not important IMO. Hope u have a nice weekend.

Take it easy on yourself and you'll get past the slump.

Sometimes the best thing to do is just take a break from reading all together :) Eventually you'll get the urge to pick up a book and read again. The poem is beautiful :)

Enjoy the games and writing poetry! It's great to have the wish and the flow!

Sometimes reading has to take a back seat. It looks like writing is uppermost for you right now and that's a good thing.

All of your readers are right. Don't worry about not reading. The poem is beautiful, and if the writing is working for you right now, let that flow. Don't worry about numbers of books read.

I think it's much more important to enjoy what you're reading than to hit a certain number. Goals are good, but sometimes you're just not into it, and that's ok! I hope you'll get back into reading soon, but in the meantime, it's great that the poetry is flowing. Very nice!

I, like you, fell down into the deep hole of reading slumps. I thought I was out of it BUT I have a few more rungs to get to the top. I plan to make reading a priority this week with less time on the computer. Want to do this together and root each other on as an incentive?

I slumped two weeks ago, but came back last week. I focused on very light reads last week.

I'm expecting some great books to come in for me at the library and in the mail next week, so that should help.

I'm glad the poetry is going well! September was a slow reading month for me, too...I think we all need to put a little less pressure on ourselves. Have a great week!

I had a bad month, too. I read 4 books, but usually read around 8. Maybe I'll be able to make it up in October.

the whole first half of this year was a reading slump for me. I was afraid I read so many books that I had forever lost my urge to read. But it came back in Aug. Your poem is beautiful.

We all have slow months - don't be too hard on yourself!

Oh well! I had a pretty lousy month too! But there's always a new day and a new month! You'll catch up!

We all have times when things get slower. Don't stress yourself with it and enjoy your time to do other things you love :)
