On the Monday post, I had said that I have set aside The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff for the time being. Many asked me the reason for it. All those who have read it and loved it and those who have it on their wish list or TBR pile.It isn't because I didn't like the way it was going. Infact I found it a fascinating account. It relates the story with history and I do like such books. The problem is not with the book. It is a MUST read as I see it. However, I am in some kind of stress and I am unable to concentrate. This book needs my full concentration...deserves it. I will get back to it and probably start it right from the beginning although I have read one third. Last year the same thing happened with The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. I think I got back to it after six months. And I never regretted reading it. It remains one of my best reads of 2008.

It's a long book and it demands you attention. I can see why you put it down. HOWEVER.. I must add... when you get to the ending, it's worth it.
Just my 2 cents... whatever that's worth!
Have a great Sunday!
I hope your stresses ease soon, and that you enjoy the rest of the book when you get back to it.
I completely understand your reasoning. There are time when a book just doesn't sit right. To put it down and take it up again later is fine, I've done with several books over the last few years. Be well!
I reviewed this book just last week, and I really hope the timing and conditions work out for you to return to it - it's definitely worth it. One of the best books I've read this year.
Hope things settle down for you soon.
I hope your life gets on a more even keel soon.
I've done that sometimes where a book needed more attention than I could give at the time. I'd put it aside and read it months later and found I really enjoyed it at another time.
I still haven't finished that book either Gautami. I put it aside about 6 months ago. BY the time I get back to reading it, I think I'll have to start again!
I know what you mean about certain books, they can just require more concentration than we are able to give. I hope you love it when you get back to it, and that you are less stressed soon!
Gautami.. I am so like you. When I feel stressed or something's on my mind I need to pick up a book that's just really light, otherwise I won't enjoy it. I totally understand you. Hope you're feeling better soon..
I have put down books in the past for the very same reason. :)
So right :)
I am glad to know about the book is really good!
I agree that this book needs your full attention. I'm looking forward to your thoughts when you're able to finish it.
