I like seeing Murakami's books on this list. They take place in our world, but not in the world we all know.

I didn't even think about Alice in Wonderland, but that is a perfect setting for this list!
Also, I've heard a ton of Murakami's books but never read them. I need to see what they're all about. :)
LOVE The Road by Cormac McCarthy and that setting. Dark and desolate, but perfect.
I definitely agree with the Harry Potter books and would add Anne McCaffrey's books if I made a list (especially her Pern books).
How did I forget about Alice in Wonderland? Lol!! Great list!!

I've always been a bit hesitant to read The Road, but I continue to hear great things about it, and it's been popular on the this week's TTT:)

Glad to see Harry Potter on your list too! I totally agree - few things beat the amazingness of the wizarding world, Hogwarts castle included.
I totally agree about Wonderland and regency England, but I haven't heard of these other novels. I'm always on the lookout for awesomely constructed dystopian or fantasy/supernatural novels, so I'm definitely checking these out (especially The Road). Great list!
