Tuesdays: Teaser/Whereabouts

I can be any place speaking of love, loss and grief. These are universal feelings. It doesn't matter, which century, what place, what culture. These hurt and how. Still, in those poems I am trying to come into terms with myself.

Renascence and Other Poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay

"This door you might not open, and you did;
So enter now, and see for what slight thing
You are betrayed... Here is no treasure hid,
No cauldron, no clear crystal mirroring
The sought-for truth, no heads of women slain
For greed like yours, no writhings of distress,
But only what you see... Look yet again—
An empty room, cobwebbed and comfortless.
Yet this alone out of my life I kept
Unto myself, lest any know me quite;
And you did so profane me when you crept
Unto the threshold of this room to-night
That I must never more behold your face.
This now is yours. I seek another place."

Oooh that is intriguing! Has quite a 'nightmare-ish' feel to it, if you ask me. Which you didn't but I'm telling you anyway! LOL

First poetry teaser I've seen and I like it!

Here is my Tuesday Teaser if you would like to have a look!

Take care,

A spookey or perhaps sad poem?

I thought that was beautiful, I don't read much poetry so that was a wonderful teaser

After I hit Publish I realized that my last comment might sound wrong. I meant because it sat on my shelves so long I'm glad someone is reading it, not that it has taken you long to read it.

Seems a bit harsh to me (to banish her for wanting to know him). But count me as another Millay fan!

Thank you so much, that is quite wonderful. I only discovered Edna St. Vincent Millay, and when I did I was utterly charmed.

I love Millay, she is my favorite poet. I hope the collection includes "If I Should Learn, In Some Quite Casual Way." That is probably my favorite.

Oh, if you don't mind I am tagging you for the What's on Your Desk Wednesday blog meme! I won't be posting it until midnight though, although I have slimmed down the rules a bit and posted that already- as a guideline. So hopefully it looks more user friendly! :D
