Jennifer asks, "What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?"
It depend. Sometimes plots are so good that you don't care for the characters and sometimes you love the characters so much that you forget about the plot. For a good mystery, a plot is very important. And for literary fiction, characters are very important.
ParaJunkee asks, "What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?"
I hold two masters degrees. I did my masters in Chemistry as well as English. And I am a Math Teacher. How did that come about is a long story. I write poetry and wish to go around meeting poets and writers. Also I want to do something in the publishing department. But don't know how to go about it. Any suggestions? Any openings?
Do feel free to explore my blog. You will definitely find something that interests you as I read wide range of genres, except maybe for a few. I also write poetry. You can read that on my other blog, rooted. Now go, explore both of my blogs! And follow them, if you like!! I follow blogs I like via Google Reader...
Enjoy!

That's a tough question. I love great characters, but I also want them to do something.
Blog-hopping by to visit and follow! Excellent point--I think sometimes it depends on the genre. The YA books I read seem to work better when they have strong characters, so I tend to say characters are more important, but when I read science fiction, I want an inventive plot. :-)
i think those two elements are both important. a great story with lame characters are no good. strong characters with poor storyline is no good as well. or so i think...=)
my latest review, a thriller by James patterson, Run for your Life.

The BBH question was a tough one this week! Very hard to choose either.
Great post! I fall in love with the characters more than the plot!
new follower! Return the favor?

Hi. Hopping over and new follower. I actually feel the plot is firstly important over the characters, when first getting into the novel, but then as the story progresses, they are really both equally important and vital to make a good story.
Come visit my blog for news on a giveaway I'm hosting!

Happy HOP! This week's question wasn't so simple to answer but ultimately it was characters for me. That's where I make my connection to the story.

I'm totally with plot. :) The most solid answer to this question but it's still on someone's preference. Anyway, read my answer in Clandestine Sanctuary.
I'm an old follower. Have a great weekend.
Stopping by to say Hi! I agree that this was a difficult decision. In the end I choose plot, but went back and forth about twenty-seven times. By the end of the hop I might change my mind again… Stop by and say hi when you get a chance!
stopping by from the Hop!
I see what you are saying about how the plot is sometimes more important and other times the characters are more important - but I really need to have great characters. If I don't like the characters then I can't really get into the plot, because I don't care what happens to them :)

I'm currently back in school working on my second masters. I prefer characters over plot. But both are important. Happy Blog Hop.
I think the characters, for me, play a huge role. But I like your distinction between mystery and literary fiction, because you are right about the differing importance of character and plot between the two genres. GOOD ANSWER.
Hopping by to say hi. I like your blog! :)
You can hop by if you have time here.
Happy Friday!
Hope you have a great weekend!!

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!
I agree with you it does kind of depend on what genre you read. :)

Old follower hopping along! Dual masters degrees -- Impressive!! It does seem like more and more people aren't really using their degrees in the work they do. It seems like with the economy we are all just taking whatever positions are available and keeping our hopes and dreams alive by trying to persue them.
Happy Hopping!

How you answered was very true.
