With the holiday season now upon us, have you left any hint – subtle or otherwise – for books family and friends might buy you for Christmas? Do you like to receive books, or do you prefer certificates so you can choose your own?
If someone chooses from my wishlist, it is ok! Otherwise I prefer gift certificates. Gives me flexibity to buy anything of my choice. However, it can be detrimental too. Too many choices sometimes makes the decision difficult!

I love to get gift cards...but I hate to give them.
to give they seem impersonal...but to recieve, the joy of shopping, especially for books, is like another gift!

November has been a really slow reading month for me, too. Just too many other things going on, but I'm hoping to get back to the books now.
I really prefer a gift card as well, but I would never discourage anyone from purchasing books as gifts :) Some of the best presents I've ever received have been books.
I love gift cards. I love books, too, but prefer if people give me ones I've specifically said I want. My brother still complains about me never reading one he got me years ago.
Have enjoyed reading your reviews.I do like Louise Penny's CI Gamache and will look forward to reading this latest.

Gift certificates are definately best unless you have a list ;0)
I too like something from my wish list or a gift certificate. I have to go to the bookstore with a list now or I come home with too many or not the one I went for!
