Monday: Musing/Mailbox/Whereabouts

Musing Mondays (BIG)
With the holiday season now upon us, have you left any hint – subtle or otherwise – for books family and friends might buy you for Christmas? Do you like to receive books, or do you prefer certificates so you can choose your own?

If someone chooses from my wishlist, it is ok! Otherwise I prefer gift certificates. Gives me flexibity to buy anything of my choice. However, it can be detrimental too. Too many choices sometimes makes the decision difficult!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday Mailbox is hosted by Marcia, In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren and New Crayons is hosted by Color Online. Check all three, which are related to books you receive in the past week.
I received only one book:
Tender Triumph by Judith NcNaught from Stacy of Stacy's Books. It was one of her free books offer of November.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I finished:

Tender Triumph by Judith NcNaught

I am in the midst of reading:

Literally nothing!

I plan to read:

Night of Flames by Douglas W. Jacobson

I posted reviews of:

Fault Line by Barry Eisler: Repost for Crime Fiction Alphabet
The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman: Repost for A-Z Wednesday
Dust by Susan Berliner
Soul Catcher by Leigh Bridger
Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran

I love to get gift cards...but I hate to give them.
to give they seem impersonal...but to recieve, the joy of shopping, especially for books, is like another gift!

I envy you! Such a productive week when I have only reviewed two! Gosh. Anyway.. certificates do provides you with the liberty to choose what you'd like.

It must be the week of one book mailboxes. That's what mine had too but I'm taking it as a chance to catch-up a bit!

Lots of books reviewed! You need a break!

I did a Mailbox Monday here:

http://laurelrainsnowcreations.blogspot.com/2009/11/mailbox-monday.html

and a What Are You Reading? here:

http://laurel-rain-snow.blogspot.com/11/what-are-you-reading_16.html

I should really consolidate them onto one blog, shouldn't I?

November has been a really slow reading month for me, too. Just too many other things going on, but I'm hoping to get back to the books now.

I really prefer a gift card as well, but I would never discourage anyone from purchasing books as gifts :) Some of the best presents I've ever received have been books.

I love gift cards. I love books, too, but prefer if people give me ones I've specifically said I want. My brother still complains about me never reading one he got me years ago.

Have enjoyed reading your reviews.I do like Louise Penny's CI Gamache and will look forward to reading this latest.
Happy reading.

I agree choices can be detrimental! But once you decide, assuming you can (!) it's nice to know you are getting something you want.

Here is my Musing Monday response!

You had a great reviewing week. I enjoy GC's too. I can never have too many choices though.

Good job on your reviews,& lucky you for the on-book-box!
I don't think I will ever catch up at this rate.
And I am with you on the book gifting.. with all my sources of books you never know what I am going to get for myself before Christmas, so I'd love one of the Pre-Ordered on Amazon or a gift card.

Gift certificates are definately best unless you have a list ;0)

I too like something from my wish list or a gift certificate. I have to go to the bookstore with a list now or I come home with too many or not the one I went for!

Soul Catcher by Leigh Bridger, I have this book, but had so much before it... I just stacked it.

I look forward to your thoughts on it...

I have left no hint for my family... I have instead, emailed, note on the fridge, flyers in their handbags - you get the jist...

There was no way I was taking any chances not getting I want...

Yup it's all in the spirit of giving - riggghhtt..
