All other things being equal, what is your favorite format for reading? Hardcover? Paperback? New book? Old book? Leather-bound first edition? E-book?
All other things being equal, I go for paperbacks. Those are easy to carry and lighter in weight. When I read a hardcover, my arms ache by the sheer weight of it. I know Hardcovers preserve well. However, paperbacks give us a certain flexibility.
I can read paperbacks any place, that is, even in bed.
Frankly, now my library is mix of both. I have old leather bound hardcovers which are priceless. I have inherited these books from my maternal grandfather. Even though yellowing, those smell great too. I buy hardcovers of those books, which I want to keep forever.
I go for paperback editions simply because they cost less, as of now. As we book lovers know, we have to go for the practical aspects too.
I do read E-books too but prefer print books. Anytime!

I know right, the smell of old book is good. And I love it :)
I prefer trade paperback or hardcover but do love audio as well.
I do love physical books, and have many shelves of hardcover and trade paperbacks (which I prefer to the smaller ones).
But here's what's happening now: MY BTT POST
All things being equal I prefer e-books, but time being what it is, I listen to a lot of audios.
Isn't it amazing that we have so many reading formats now? Something for everyone!

:)
the smell.....I agree with you
I'm afraid I can't do old books. They make me itchy.
I prefer e-books. They're hypoallergenic, and there's never any schmutz on the pages.
I probably go for trade paperbacks the most, but mass markets are nice because I can throw them in my purse!
