I must mention here that I read at my own pace and depending on my mood. Don't ask me to hurry.
We all had to read things in school that we didn’t like … but what about something you read for a class that you ended up liking (or loving)? An author you discovered that you might not have found? A genre you hadn’t thought about?
In school, I read The Passage to India by E M Forster, which I liked very much. Then I read Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and also Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, which I liked. I also got to read two plays, The Barretts of Wimpole Street by Robert Beiser, and All My Sons by Arthur Miller and loved those too.

I enjoyed most of what I read for school.
I was not a deep reader when I was in school. But like Bermudaonion I enjoyed what I read.
I enjoyed Great Expectations, though I read it after leaving school. A Thomas Hardy novel is one of my picks today - here’s my answer.
I think it's wonderful to discover loved books among the "assignments."

I read the same Thomas Hardy novel, though it wasn't for school :)
My syllabus had pretty easy literature till I was 14...along the lines of O Henry.
