Wondrous Words Wednesday

wordyweds

Wondrous Word Wednesday is hosted by Kathy of BermudaOnion

As I have been reading fairly easy books, I didn't find many words. Only one I didn't know. That too from The Secret Hour by Luanne Rice.

Stentorian (Page 295): "What," the Judge asked, his tone stentorian, "are you going to do about it?"

adj.

Extremely loud: a stentorian voice. See synonims at loud.

[After Stentor, a loud-voiced Greek herald in the Iliad.]

I would never have thought that 'stentorian' has anything to do with loud. Cool!

I've seen "stentorian." Had no idea what it meant. Thanks.

I like stentorian. Nice to know it came from the Illiad.

Stentorian - I'd like to remember that one. I've looked it up before, but it didn't stick. Maybe next time...

I like the sound of stentorian. Neat to know the origin as well.

I've been known to use a stentorian voice since both of my parents are hard of hearing. Great word! It's new to me. Thanks for participating!
