"Mauro," I ventured, hoping to defend myself and sound logical, "I happen to be my husband's second wife. All three of us live side by side."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am trapped in a polygamous marriage of the Mormon sect in Los Molinos in California. I don't know where to escape as I have 9 children to take care of. Anyone dissenting faces dire consequences, which can end in being murdered.
This sounds like it might be an interesting read! I haven't read anything about this topic before.
Sounds like a tough read. I think the teaser is interesting, since the speaker realizes that her situation is not the best option.
I have this on my shelf to be read but I'm thinking I want to find the first and read it before I read this one.
Thus woman is in a very bad place. I don't see a happy ending.
Sounds like a chilling story!
I read about this book, but not read any reviews yet!
I wonder WHEN the memoir takes place as I don't believe Mormons have supported polygamy in a while. I do know that it still happen, I have Escape on my TBR pile.
Chilling book - looking forward to your review.
Thanks for commenting on my Teaser Tuesday!
Good teaser - I have this one in my TBR pile. I am hoping to read it before the end of the year!
I'm sure if you'll check your book you'll find you are not reading about "Mormon's". The church you are reading about is a break off from "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" or the "Mormons". The group this book is about are called "Fundamentalist Mormons". They don't agree with the doctrines of the parent church so they broke off and made a new church.
I am a Mormon so I thought I'd gently correct you. Click here to learn more about Mormon’s
Interesting teasers!
I read Shattered Dreams, which dealt with polygamy and it was an eye opener.
Yikes! I think that the reader probably has to be brave to face this subject material...not as much as the writer, obviously, but this sounds like a scary story. I don't know if I'd pick it up. Great teaser, though!
Thanks for coming by my blog earlier!
Great teaser! Yes, it does sound like insanity - especially the part about having nine children.
Wow, interesting book. I would not know what I would do if I had to live like that. I have to much mouth so my hubby says lol.
Yikes! I'm not much of a fan of the cult books.
I havent read this one. It does sound good.
As a member of the LDS Church myself, I second what Kaye said above. The Church hasn't been involved with polygamy in over 100 years (give or take).
Just curious if you'd read Carolyn Jessup's book and how they compare. Her book was a tough read for me.
Oh my that is DEEP. It made me feel like I was a friend that wanted to support but didn't want to hear the truth. What a weird feeling from such a great teaser.
Thanks for stopping over to my blog.
