Mondays: Mailbox/What Are You Reading/Musings

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at A Girl and Her Books. Gwendolyn B.  of The Sea of Books is hosting for the month of July.

I r
eceived two books from Stacy of Stacy Books

1) An Introduction to Haiku by Harold Henderson:

A fine selection of these short, succinct verses from over 600 years of Japanese history.

2) The Frenchwoman by Barbara Paul:

Sent by her stepmother to England to marry a stranger whom she finds hard to trust, Juliette Delahousse finds herself condemned by neighbors for her French blood, surrounded by dangerous secrets, and falling in love with the wrong brother

I am STILL reading Other Eyes by Barbara D'Amato

Do you think it makes you NOT (or less) “well-read” if there are certain genres that you won’t read because you KNOW you won’t enjoy them? Why?

No way! It definitely does not make me feel like this. I don't wish to waste my time reading genres I don't like.

I remember back in high school, our Literature teacher made us do an haiku assignment, it was kind of tough for me making sure works fall in the right way a haiku should. :D The second book sounds like you're up for a tear-jerker? Falling for the wrong brother. *gasps*

Very true, I don't like to waste time reading what I don't like either.

I just think you have to be careful not to think you will necessarily hate a book, just because it is in a certain genre.
a good book is a good book!

I've always been fascinated with haiku. I can't seem to write it, but I'm in awe of those who can. Enjoy!
