Do you read book reviews? Do you let them change your mind about reading/not reading a particular book?
I occasionally do read book reviews and it has at times helped me deciding to read a particular book or not.I do check out reviews in The Guardian or The Times. But I prefer the book blogger reviews. I seldom go for hyped books though. They almost always turn out to be disappointing. However, the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson is the exception. I loved the first two books and look forward to read the third one.
However, while writing a book review, I seldom ever read other reviews so as to not to be influenced by those.
What do you think?

I usually only read reviews on blogs.
I usually only read book blogger's reviews now. I used to read them on Amazon but after hearing so much negative chatter about that I hardly ever check there anymore.
I don't usually go for the hype either. I do have his book on my TBR list though.

I read reviews that I happen across. I don't seek them out. And like you, I'm not impressed with hype.
Here's my response: http://harrischanningauthor.blogspot.com/
I read reviews of bloggers and Amazon reviews, but like you I dont read reviews if I'm going to read the book at some point.
I read bloggers' reviews but I also pay closer attention to the tastes of the blogger. Hype is definitely misleading...Stieg Larsson is a good example of it. I bought the first part of his trilogy, read it and really, really regretted it.
