TSS/Read-a-thon: End of Event meme

Reader Readathon ButtonHere comes the End of Event meme

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?

The last four hours were daunting for me. I couldn't concentrate at all.

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?

Crime fiction works great. So do graphic novels. I think the Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson will keep one hooked till the end. I ought to have saved those for the readathon!

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

I think the present format is great.

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

Cheerleaders, I think. However, I don't think I had many cheerleading me! Me being a veteran, maybe they thought I didn't need cheering! *grin*

5. How many books did you read?

Two. Both Crime fiction.

6. What were the names of the books you read?

The Cutting by James Hayman (Pages 326)
Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith (Pages 436)

7. Which book did you enjoy most?

I liked The Cutting Better.

8. Which did you enjoy least?

N/A

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?

N/A

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

I will come back for it next time around and as a reader!

My thoughts:

I called it a day at 2 pm my time, 3 1/2 hours before finish as I simply couldn't concentrate on what I was reading. This time I couldn't read more than two books but I liked both the books I read. Both kept me hooked despite being somewhat heavy books. Most important is, I had fun. I wanted to visit fellow readers but somehow couldn't. I did take part in a couple of mini-challenges though. I did not win any prizes, but that's ok.

This was my first year as a Cheerleader and it's a lot of work. I followed every blog that I stopped in at to Cheerlead so that I could follow up later and when I opened that folder today I had 77 new subscriptions to weed through. It was a great way to open myself up to new blogs including yours!

Good job reading 2 books! I had to go to bed around 10 last night but I woke up in time to read a bit more this morning.

Congratulations on finishing the read-a-thon, I'm not sure how anyone manages the whole 24 hours!

You did well! I have to agree with you about the graphic novels. I read one this time.

You had a great read-a-thon and got two books off your stack. It is always hard near the end to stay with it especially if you did not get a nap!

Next time, I plan to do the read-a-thon officially. Although, despite not actually signing up, I followed the spirit of the event and finished three books.

I'm definitely going to try the graphic novels next time. I am such a slow reader that I need all the help I can get.

You can see my Read-A-Thon wrap-up meme here if you're interested.

Congrats on your read-a-thon success. ;-)

I've only stayed awake all twenty-four hours one time and then I was a wreck for days afterward!

I like a nice mix of reading and blogging. I only finished two real books, but I'm happy with that.

You did great! I quit reading with 4 hours to go--I just could not do 24 hours.
Have a great week--

I do want to get to those Steig Larson books! Maybe I should wait until October if I can. It sounds like you did awesome! Sometimes you just have to go to sleep! I know I did.
