Booking Through Writing or Riveting?

btt button

What’s more important: Good writing? Or a good story?

I think we have answered this before. Although I want both in novel and good writing minus a good story might interest me for a while but it doesn't for the whole novel. Without a good story, writing falls flat.

I think it's hard to answer this kind of question without actual examples in mind. But I find it hard to judge a story until I've finished the whole book, and it takes good writing to keep my interest up until the end!

I agree with you. I love a good story.

I want both too!

I completely agree with how you answered this. From a writer's point of view, I love reading all of today's answers because it really gets to the core of what a successful novel should strive for.

You really need both.

You need one to have the other. It's so hard but if I had to choose, I say story. Here's my BTT.

Happy Reading!

I definitely want both, too. If I had to pick, I'd say story, but with the caveat that terrible writing can distract me so much, I no longer want to hang around to find out what happens in the story!

I could have made the argument either way, but that's half the fun. http://nerdbliss.com/wordpress/2012/01/26/rivet-me/
