Top Ten Trends You Would Like to See More or Less of



Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.  Each week, we get a theme to list our top tens. 

This week's Top Ten is: Top Ten Trends You Would Like to See More or Less of

I would like to see more of:

1) Crime Fiction
2) Historical books
3) Travelogues
4) Good Detectives
5) Characters like Tintin and Asterix
6) More Libraries
7) More bookstores
8) Difficult issues tackled
9) Good old comedy authors
10) And Poetry!!!

I would like to see less of:

1) Paranormal Fiction (totally sucks)
2) Fantasy (Up to the gills with it)
3) Recycled Twilight stuff (never did get around reading the original ones either!)
4) Recycled Jane Austen novels (come on, can't you write your own novels?)
5) Zombie Books (YUCK!!)
6) Chick Lit
7) Explicit Sex
8) Explicit Violence
9) YA Novels (Let those not be marketed for Adult readers)
10) Unreadable fonts!!

Yes to more libraries and bookstores! There can never be enough! And I forgot about Jane Austen novels, could definitely use less of those!

I agree with almost all your likes. And I agree with all your dislikes, I too hate all those kind of books. Except, the Recycled Jane Austen books, I really have found a few I enjoyed, but there was one I threw in the trash after only reading a few pages. So I guess I agree somewhat with the recycling of her books, well somewhat, anyway.

I completely agree about the paranormal books and zombie books. How refreshing it would be to peruse the YA aisle without being overwhelmed by the undead.
