Booking through recent worst

btt button

What’s the worst book you’ve read recently?

In July I read One Scream Away by Kate Brady which is pegged as psycho thriller. I found it rather predictable. I won't call it the recent worst book but one of the recent ones not to my liking. Going through my archives of 2009, I find I have been more selective lately and that keeps me from reading really bad books.

I'm struggling to answer this question because usually I manage to choose books I like. Mmm ... that is my answer!

The Secret River by Kate Grenville, bored me to tears. I know a lot of people liked it but I would have prefered to chew a brick than finish that book!

I tend to have a go at anything, so I guess I come across books that don't grip me often.

You'll find mine here.

I also found this hard. Someone asked me recently why I don't have very many negative reviews on my blog and it's for this reason. I am rarely in the position to drag a book over the coals because I tend to be more selective. i take chances with library books so if I'm not hooked a few pages in, I drop it, no charge. :)

Me, too. I don't think I've read any really bad books lately. Just a few that weren't really to my taste.

Yes, it's tough when a thriller is predictable!

I have seen this one around the blogs -- sorry it was a disappointment!

I have that one in my TBR. I'm sorry to hear it was disappointing.

I couldn't come up with anything I recently read that would be called the worst. I guess I'm getting better at choosing what books I like.

I haven't heard of this one but your answer is similar to what I think that it's not really about the worst book but about one dislikes the most.

I haven't heard of this one either, but I'll certainly avoid it in the future :)

I chose The Reader by Bernhard Schlink as my most recent BAD read. You can check out my thoughts here.

That book doesn't appeal to me either.

I have been seeing a lot of this book lately, but thrillers just don't appeal to me so I just wrote it off in my mind.

Ha, I'm with ya. I have such a huge 'to read' list at this point that I usually check ratings/reviews on Goodreads to see if it's worth my time. I may read a book that I find so-so, but it's rarer I read one I despise.

I try to avoid psycho thrillers - lol!

I hate predictability in a book! That's a big turn off for me.

yeah, I don't like predictability in books either. Meh.

I haven't really read a real bad book in a while..except the ones I mentioned though.

I also hate predictable novels, especially when it comes to thrillers, where unpredictability is EVERYTHING!

Predictability in a thriller does tend to detract from the overall story. Nothing like taking an exciting premise and totally deflating that promise!

What a buggar!

Predictability in a thriller kind of defeats the point doesn't it?! That's a good heads up for me as i like this kind of novel.
