Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, we get a theme to list our top tens. This Week's Pick: Top Ten Books I read in 2011
I had a massive reading slump. (I still have it.) My reading came down to 63 books from 96 read in 2010. And that was a down slide from 150+ books read in 2009. In 2011 I haven't really picked up any memorable books. I read a lot of trashy, light stuff to get me to reading but with no avail. I might as well pick the Top Ten (No, these are definitely NOT trashy reads):
3) Blue by Lou Aronica (e-book)*
5) The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger*
6) Before I Go to Sleep by S J Watson**
7) Room by Emma Donoghue**
6) Before I Go to Sleep by S J Watson**
7) Room by Emma Donoghue**
8) Borderlands by Brian McGilloway (CF)
** ones are VERY good!
Yes, well, I wouldn't exactly call Room a trashy read! ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your reading slump--I've had a couple of mini ones this year and it's very disheartening when it happens. like you, I sometimes read something fluffy to break it, but other times I just give in and read some fanfiction online, which is often satisfying.
As the Crowe Flies and Reads: None of these are trashy reads. Most other books I read are trashy!
ReplyDeleteI have Before I GO to Sleep on my list too - so good! And I feel you on the reading slump, but I think it happens to everyone at some point.
ReplyDeleteI have not read any of your books but saw the movie of the Time Traveler's Wife. Happy reading in 2012.
ReplyDeleteI believe it's better to read fewer books that are better books. If that makes any sense....
ReplyDeleteInteresting list! I've only read The Time Traveler's Wife from it (read it a few years ago and absolutely loved it) =)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten list!
Glad to see Room on your list, too. Sorry about the reading slump in 2011. Here's to 2012 being booktastic!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Room is fantastic. I also liked Before I Go to Sleep and I want to read the Time Traveller's Wife.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the last week of 2011
I've only read 2 of the 4 but I really liked those two. Great list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Room made my top ten last year and I love The Time Traveler's Wife so much!
ReplyDeleteI recently finished reading Room myself and it definitely is one of my top books for 2011 also! Thank for sharing your list.
ReplyDeleteOops, didn't see your comment at the end saying that none of them were trashy. Didn't mean anything by my comment--just that I had read Room myself (hadn't read the others). Sorry if I gave offense!
ReplyDeleteI've read The Time Traveler's Wife and The Lincoln Lawyer. Some of the others are on my to-read list though.
ReplyDeleteI hope your reading slump disappears in 2012!
Awesome List. Room was an awesome read and I still need to read The Time Traveler's Wife, it is sitting on my shelf. =]
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Top Ten. =]

My Top Ten
You still had some good titles on there. I am thrilled to see Borderlands on there, I read that last year and really enjoyed it. I've been looking for more in the series. I haven't read Room or Mr Pettigrew's Last Stand, though it has turned up on many people's lists in the past two years.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your reading slump. I'm coming out of a long one that lasted for several year - one year I read 37 books! That was awful. Sometimes just reading whatever you want, is the way out. I also had to cut back on tv watching (much too easy to slip into), though that was just me. I hope 2012 is a much happier year for you reading, Guatami!
Room and Before I Go To Sleep are both on my top reads of the year too.
ReplyDeleteI hate reading slumps, but you did still read quite a few books this year -- trashy or not.
ReplyDeleteRoom was excellent, and I'm glad to hear that you thought the Watson was as well. I'm reading that for a book tour soon.
Great list. I'm sad to say that I haven't read Lincoln Lawyer, only saw the movie.
ReplyDeleteHope the slump breaks soon.
Thanks for stopping by earlier.

I'm about to read Room! Everyone seems to have it on their Top Ten.
ReplyDeleteQuite an interesting list you have. Have a good New Year.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read ANY of these! I fear for my TBR list...
