While the awards are a fun part of BBAW, they can never accurately represent the depth and breadth of diversity in the book blogging community. Today you are encouraged to highlight a couple of bloggers that have made book blogging a unique experience for you. They can be your mentors, a blogger that encouraged you to try a different kind of book, opened your eyes to a new issue, made you laugh when you needed it, or left the first comment you ever got on your blog. Stay positive and give back to the people who make the community work for you!
I have 590 subscriptions on my Google Reader, which comprises of Book Bloggers, Poets, Writers, News and Random ones. More than half are of Book Bloggers. I have sorted those as Crime Fiction ones, and Literary Fiction and anything in between. I value each and everyone. So how do I choose only two? Isn't that a difficult task?
I am not going to highlight two blogs just like that, picking randomly. I know there are some blogs which get chosen over others. We are kind of biased. We all end up selecting them. Only them. In the process, we forget that it actually works against community building. Introducing a new blogger to our regular blogger friends should be our goal. That is what I will do here:
Soul's Music: It is a poetry blog and Elizabeth writes mystical poetry, the kind which touches our soul. She has very aptly named her blog, Soul's Music. I admire her for her poetry, and her beautiful insightful comments. Do check her out. You can tell her, I sent you to her blog!
The Parrish Lantern: A literary fiction blog, it covers a whole range of that including poetry. It is one of my favourite blogs out there. You can check it out, if you like to read real good books!
I agree completely on Parrish Lantern-
ReplyDeleteHi, I am stopping by to visit your blog via the list of posts for Day one
Please Stop by My Blog if you Like
I found it difficult to single out a handful of bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI do have a list that I have directed folks to but like you I follow over 300 hundred blogs and they are all important to me for one reason or another.
have a good week

That's alot of followers to keep track of..In a few short years, the blogosphere has grown by leaps and bounds since I began blogging in 2008. There are so many blogs that I cannot keep up, and I finally decided I shouldn't even try to.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I selected the two blogs that I find myself returning to whenever they post.
Find out who here.
Thanks for the links to some new blogs!
ReplyDeleteThe consistent is that you always introduce me to new books, authors and now bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's a good opportunity to highlight lesser known blogs, because otherwise, how could one possibly choose?!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing two "new-to-me" blogs! I love finding new blogs out there :)
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see Parrish Lantern getting so many mentions today. He is such a fantastic blogger.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Soul Music before *heads off to take a look*
Parrish, definitely. The other blog I didn't know yet.
ReplyDeleteYou are subscribed to tons of blogs! I don't know if I could keep up with that many!
ReplyDeleteI seem to collect more and more blogs to read! Now I have two more!
ReplyDeleteI had heard of one of these before but I hadn't actually clicked through to see what goes on there.
Enjoy your BBAW!
590?? Wow, that's amazing! I have fewer than that but I still struggled to single a few out. I can't imagine how you did it! Happy BBAW!
ReplyDeleteWell said! Off to visit.
ReplyDeleteI tried to choose a couple of lesser-know-but-should-but-more-popular blogs as well.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of either of those - thanks!
ReplyDeleteParrish Lantern is getting so much blogging love today and I have never heard of his blog! I am definitely going to check it out. Thank you so much for sharing your list with us.
ReplyDeleteI think you make a good point about community building. I could not keep up with the amount of blogs that you do ... therefore my list tends to be a little "stagnant" and familiar. Thanks for the encouragement to branch out a bit more.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting Book'd Out during BBAW. Thanks for sharing the bloggers you admire, I hoped to do the same thing by choosing specific genre blogs to share.
