If you could ask your favorite author (alive or dead) one question … who would you ask, and what would the question be?
Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets. Some speak of a woman of dark countenance, who was apparently married and some of the sonnets pertain to a fair young man.I would like to know if they were real individuals and if yes, then who?
A very relevant question as no one knows till date who the Bard referred to, in his sonnets. Those sonnets speak of love, passion, rejection, lust, death and lot more.
That's a great question. I wonder if his answer would make us appreciate the sonnets more or less. What if his answer turned out to be something mundane.
ReplyDeleteGood question. Shakespeare would be such a good choice. I can't imagine only asking him one though - I'd end up wanting to sit down and really talk about his writing with him.
ReplyDeleteoh man Tgats a beautiful question. I adore Shakespeare and have so many things to ask him.
ReplyDeleteI am really not sure if I will ever ask him any question.
ReplyDeleteDo we know who he wrote about in the famous 'Can I compare the to a summers day?' I spotted that on the tube the other day and though how amazing to think that the muse has been immortalised so.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful question! I'd love to know the answer.
ReplyDeleteGood question, and good choice of author to ask! One could think of so many things to ask him, now that you mention him!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed many questions for Shakespeare.. I would love to know about his life at court!
ReplyDeleteThe BTT post is here at The Burton Review!
Wonderful question - it would be nice if we could find out the answer.
ReplyDeleteGreat imaginative question, but you've got to love the mystery of never knowing for sure...
ReplyDeleteDon't you watch your BBC? The "woman of dark contenance" was Martha Jones and the "fair young man" was The Doctor.
ReplyDelete(Doctor Who, Season 3, Episode 2 "The Shakespeare Code, original airdate April 7, 2007)
Good choice. I went with Shakespeare, too - lots of questions to ask there.
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I'd like to know who he really was. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, the famous dark lady!
ReplyDeleteOooh I would like to know the answer to this, too! Great question.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Shakespeare. That is a terrific question.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read anything by shakespeare because the language is too hard for me who happen to come from a country which doesn't use English.
ReplyDeleteBut questioning an author that already passed away is quite interesting
I love your question, it would be so exciting to know if he was writing about a real person!
ReplyDeleteMy BTT is now up and can be found HERE
