January 2014 Wrap Up post and Crime Fiction Pick of the Month

Last Sunday I vented about longer working hours. Our Union negotiated and the timings have been reverted back for some more time. The reason given out was vague to the least. I can say that it is not going to happen anytime soon. We are all happy.

This week we will celebrate our Annual Day in school. We are busy preparing for that. In the midst of all this, my reading is going great. I finished 19 books in Jan 2014. (18 novels+1 poetry book). Not bad, eh? My goal is to read 150+ book in 2014. Let's see if I get to that.

Listing below what I finished reading, the best part being, I have reviewed 15 out of 19, I read:

19. The Personal History of Rachel DuPREE (Historical literary fiction)
18. Mangled Hearts by Felicia (Romance) (e-book)
17. It Takes a Murder by Anu Kumar (Dark romance)
16. The Hunger Angel by Herta Muller (Literary Fiction)
15. Tahoe Trap by Todd Borg (Crime Fiction)
12. Displaced Persons by Ghita Schwarz (Literary....Holocaust)
11. Dead Water by Ann Cleeves (Crime Fiction)
9. The Lantern by Deborah Lawrenson (Gothic Suspense)
8. Where's My Son? by John C. Dalglish (Novella) (e-book)
7. Clamor by Elyse Fenton (poetry)
5. Far To Go by Alison Pick (literary....Holocaust...Canada)
1. One Dead Cookie by Virginia Lowell  (cozy)

Crime Fiction Pick of the Month for January 2014

I am choosing Dead Water by Ann Cleeves as the Crime Fiction Pick of the Month. With a wonderful setting and a grieving detective, this novel has all the elements of holding our interest till the end. Do click on the title to read my review.
