There are so many crappy biographies … would you rather read a poorly-written biography of a fascinating life, OR an exquisitely well-written, wonderful read of one of a not-so-interesting life?
It depends.I like biographies. Sometimes I read fictionalized ones too. What I can't read is biographies of so called celebrities, like movie stars, and or half-naked singers. What is there in their lives that I want to know, aspire to know? Nothing!
Lives of Poets, writers, soldiers interest me. And I would RATHER read poorly written biographies about them than reading a well written biography of, say Paris Hilton!!!
Haha I would still stay away from a terribly plodding book about one of my favorite people, though, it's probably hard to find such a thing, given my preference in people.
ReplyDeleteI just dont know about this question. It was hard for me.
ReplyDeleteMy BTT answer, if you are interested.
I don't think I would read bios much. But I did read Somaly Mam's, which was very touching and made me cry.
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on bios, but when I do read them (like anything I read) I want them to be well-written.

I haven't read much nonfiction of any kind for quite a while. But if I did, I'd still want it to be well-written.
ReplyDeleteI agree what biographies should inspire but the person must had lead an interesting life or why are we reading about them.
