I prefer silence. Sometimes it's tempting to blot out noise by using music, but the combination is just too much for me. Also, if it's music I enjoy I get distracted.
I love some Mozart symphonies. They're not as intense as others. But piano music, like Debussy and Chopin, are the perfect background for reading to me. But I guess it really needs to fit the mood of the book, or I'd rather have silence.
I really prefer silence and being alone while reading :)
ReplyDeleteI used to listen to Mozart while I was studying, but I can't while I'm readnig because I hum along - LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier. :)
Interesting. Would never think of this.
ReplyDeleteMy BTT
Interesting answer. I prefers silence, though. Here is my BTT post.

ReplyDeleteGreat answer, I'm like you, I like to listen to music while I read! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm a fan of "background music" when I'm reading, if I have any music at all.
ReplyDeleteHere's MY THURSDAY MEMES POST

Classical is good for me too. anything with out vocals is good though.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for visiting my blog. As far as I am concerned 'Silence is Golden' when it comes to reading. :-)
ReplyDeleteInteresting, hadn't thought about it that way.
ReplyDeleteSymphony music is good, as long as the strings don't over-power too much - I get too caught up in the music and forget about the reading.
ReplyDeleteI usually prefer silence but when I listen to something, it's usually classical.
ReplyDeleteSymphony music, eh? That should be good in the background. Thanks for stopping by earlier.
ReplyDeleteThe reason classical music is my reading standby is that is is very harmonious -- it's hard to imagine reading while listening to rock!
ReplyDeleteSoft music in the background is OK, but I prefer quietness when reading!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll stop by and say hello...
