Top Ten Books I Just HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf

I have more than 300 unread books sitting on my shelves. I list the TOP TEN here, in no particular order:

    I also want to read Shantaram. Really the first 3 but also 6 and 8 and 9 ugh so many books. Ok Shantaram first.

    I own The Inheritance of Loss and In Cold Blood and haven't read them yet either. I loved The Grapes of Wrath, it's my favorite Steinbeck novel.

    Gasp!! more than 300 unread books!!! Can i camp out in your library? Its great that Gabriel Garcia Marquez is on your list. When you get time to pick him up, i think you'll enjoy it. I have not read Love in the Time of Cholera but i saw the movie with Javier Bardem and i really loved it. I'm hoping to read more of Marquez in the future.

    I didn't like The Age of Innocence as much as The House of Mirth but it's still good.

    Crime and Punishment is so interesting a concept!

    I want to read most of those books. Sophie's World is fantastic, especially if you have an interest in philosophy and history.

    LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA. I can't tell you how many times I've begun that and just could not get past the first few pages. I've finally given up.

    For many years I had IN COLD BLOOD on a shelf gathering dust, finally donated it somewhere. A couple of others on your list haven't made the cut here either.

    Good list. Though I did read SOPHIE'S CHOICE and do recommend it. Not happy reading, though.

    I have either read or have sitting on my tbr shelf everything on your list except no.10.
    Marquez is amazing, I'd love to read 100 years of solitude again for the first time.

    Crime and Punishment is on my to-read-list, too. However, my brother owns the book, so it's not on my shelf. I've been wanting to try out Marquez, too.

    I justgave away 100 Years of Solitude because it had been sitting on my shelves for over 10 years and I realized I had no desire to ever read it. I really, really liked Shantaram!

    'Love in the Time of Cholera' has been on my list of must reads for about three years - it is always sold out here but last week I walked into the local book shop and there it was! Waiting for me - still to be read!

    'Grapes of Wrath' is a must but in my book (whoops!) The 'English Patient' and 'Virgin in the Garden' are proving to be very, very difficult. I cannot tell you how may times I have picked up the former!

    Three hundred? I'm coming to see you!
