Mondays: Mailbox/Whereabouts/Musings

Mailbox Monday has moved over to She Reads and Reads, for the month of October.

I received four books, in the past week:
1) A Dangerous Affair by Caro Peacock
2) Voltaire's Calligrapher by Pablo De Santis
3) The Wake of Forgiveness by Bruce Machart
4) Sometimes Mine by Martha Moody

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am still reading
Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
My slump is going on!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Do you prefer hardcovers, trade paperbacks (the bigger ones), or mass market paperbacks (the smaller ones)? Why?

I like Trade paperbacks best. Lighter in weight, easier on the eyes and easier to carry. Hard covers are good on the shelf but heavier to carry!

  1. Sorry you're still struggling with your slump.

  2. I am there with you for the slump. I haven't even finished one book this week!

  3. I am in a perfectly horrid reading slump too. It stinks. I am so behind on book tours. I think one of my goals for next year is to accept less review copies and read down some of my TBR and hopefully enjoy reading again.

  4. Maybe you just don't like Larsson's book. I tried the first book in the series and it bored me to tears.

    Last week was a nice mixture of research, picture books and reading for fun. Here's what I'm reading this week.

  6. I hope you'll enjoy your mailbox books. Sorry about the slump - I think it happens to most readers.
    I'm probably the only one who hasn't read the Stieg Larsson series - they just don't appeal to me.

  7. For me, it all depends on what type of book I like. My full answer is here.

    I hope you get out of your slump soon!

  9. I think I would get in a reading slump also, if I had to read review books. I prefer to read what I choose to read, than the pressure is off, and the reading is enjoyable.

    Musing Mondays, I read all but I do have my favorite.

  10. @gramma ann: The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's nest is definitely not a review book! And many others too!

    Hang in there the slump is a bump and will soon be a speed bump of the past. Hope the week gets better for you :)

  18. I like trade paperbacks, too. And hardcovers. I don't take books anywhere, so size isn't that much of an issue.

  19. I don't know if I'm in a slump or just a slow reader...last year at this time I had read 2 times as many books as I have this year. Oh well, at least I'm still reading and loving it.

  20. Hi Gautami,

    I read A Dangerous Affair. I liked it but not enough to pick up the next book in the series. I hope you like it more.
