Do you listen to music while reading? Does this change if you’re reading in or out of your house? Do you have a preference of music for such occasions?
When I at home reading, indeed I do. And I prefer slow, slowful music while reading. Outside of it. No. That's because I don't like headphones. ( I must be the only one who doesn't!). I simply close out the noise around me and get on with my reading.
Having said that, I must mention here that I am a die hard rock music fanatic! Believe it or not!!
Well you've had a great week. Under the Unbroken Sky really appeals to me. Enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteSome great reads there. I like the sound of Humpty Dumpty was Pushed - I have a collection of short stories of the same name that's filled with nursery rhymes with a 'twist.'
ReplyDeleteYou had a good book week - I hope you enjoy The Impostor's Daughter as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteThose sound like good books. Can't wait for your thoughts on Cleopatra's Daughter.

I really liked Under the Unbroken Sky and it's a book I never thought I would like. You know, it seemed bleak, depressing, etc. It was only that a little. The writing draws you in so much you will really be affected by the lives of these people!
ReplyDeleteGreat books in the mail!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about Cleopatra's Daughter.

I used to listen to music when I read, but I actually prefer not to nowadays. It doesn't bother me if it's on, but since I tune the music out anyway, it's just better with silence.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books, Gautami!
Great list. I have Someone Else's Daughter on my shelf.
ReplyDeleteMy list won't be up for another 10 hours!
I am planning on reading Cleopatra's Daughter soon too.
ReplyDeleteGenerally I don't listen to music.
ReplyDeleteHere is mine

ReplyDeleteI believe that you love Rock-n-Roll!! You got some fantastic books...enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteawesome list! enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI typically can't listen to music while reading; I get distracted and attempt to join in with the, consequently losing focus on the text. Rather, I find that the music of poetic words and dramatized dialogue is music enough for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it a little quiet when I read :)
ReplyDeleteWow you must be on a first name basis with your mail carrier. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Monday post http://metroreader.blogspot.com/2009/09/mailbox-monday-september-21st.html

ReplyDeleteI need quiet to read - if I'm going to understand and remember what I'm reading :)
ReplyDeleteTypically I don't listen to music while reading, although on a rare occasion I'll play soft music very low. I have a cd of cello music that I love and I'll listen to that sometimes. I LOVE the title Humpty Dumpty Was Pushed!! LOL Can't wait for your review!
