Booking through Big

What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?

I read I know This Much is True by Wally Lamb in February. This is a tome of a book with 890 pages and well worth it.

And in terms of BIG reading, I am currently reading Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevesky.

    Wow, those are some really huge reads. The Wally Lamb book is on my wishlist but the size is exactly what keeps me pushing it down the list.

    I'm not usually put out by the size of novels but this one really puts me off. I'm not sure if it's the cover or because I'm not all that interested in the story - yet.

    Great choice! He does write books big both in size and essence. I love Lamb's writing and read all of his books, including his newest, The Hour I First Believed.

    I've heard so many good things about the Wally Lamb book, but I must admit whenever I see it, the size intimidates me and I forego it!

    This was a good one. I really like Wally Lamb. My largest book (although not so recent) was The Crimson Petal and the White; Michael Faber (i loved it) it was over 900 pages.

    I've stayed away from the Wally Lamb book mainly because of its length, but it's gotten such good reviews, I may have to give it a try. And I think you're very brave for taking on Dostoyevsky!

    I remember slogging through Crime and Punishment in Year 12. I can't recall that much about it, but it didn't put me off Russian literature so it can't have been that bad!

    I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on Crime and Punishment. It's one of those books that I keep going back to read. The mental conversation intrigues me.

    Wally Lamb has been all over the place not only in this BTT post but in general. Bloggers recommend This Much is True and The Hour I First Believed.

    do love a big, fat book, but I just haven't been reading many lately. Probably because I've been reading a lot of juvenalia. BUt I might check out that Wally Lamb; I really enjoyed She's Come Undone.

    My current big is Infinite Jest. Once I'm finished, I plan on tackling some other biggies including Crime and Punishment. We'll see how it plays out, though! ;)

    Wow what a couple of books to read. I think the longest or one of that I've read is It by Stephen King. I can't remember the exact number of pages but I know it's 1100+ so yeah quite a read.
    Currently reading Dean Koontz's One Door Away From Heaven 900+ pages.

    I really like the other two Wally Lamb books I've read, but haven't yet read THE HOUR I FIRST BELIEVED.

    I just read on another blog that he has a holiday-themed novella coming in November 2009.
