Booking Through Twisty

btt button

1. Do YOU like books with complicated plots and unexpected endings?

2. What book with a surprise ending is your favorite? Or your least favorite?

I do prefer to read books with complicated plots and unexpected endings. I like to go on a roller coaster ride while reading. A well written book can do that for us if those have interesting characterization. The whys and hows oought to be justified. And a book for the sake of twisty endings puts me off. I have read a lot of books wit unexpected endings.

The Suicide Collecters by David Oppegaard is one such book with a totally unexpected ending. And the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J K Rowling totally sucks for me.

Really - the ending to Deathly Hallows? I really liked it (altough actually if you are referring to how the sequel was so set up at the end with the references to the children I agree). The end of Deathly Hallows was very predictable I suppose, but I am still in love with the whole series.

I agree, the Deathly Hallows was a bit predictable but I have a soft spot for all the books so I was OK with it. Here's my answer this week - http://justbookreading.com/2010/01/28/booking-through-thursday-%E2%80%93-twists-turns/.

I have not read The Suicide Collectors and it has been awhile since I read HP and the Deadly Hallows, but I did enjoy those books for what they were.

Which ending for Deathly Hallows were you disappointed with? I was satisfied with the ending of the book proper, but thought the epilogue was a bit too neat and contrived.

A lot of people didn't like Deathly Hallows. What didn't you like about it?

I lose my patience some times with complicated plots, but I do like surprise endings. Although many people did not like the way that Chris Bohjalian's Double Bind ended, I liked the book a lot!

I haven't heard of 'The Suicide Collecters' before, but it does sound like a good book. Thanks for the recommendation!

If there aren't twists and turns, a story is so boring and predictable. What fun is that? I love a surprise ending - and a plot that makes me think.
