Weekly Geeks: Summer Fun

1) Make a reading list of your favorite children's (school aged) books to read over the summer.
2) Give us some fun activities to do during the summer.
3) Tell us about a favorite vacation spot. Maybe someone will want to go there too!
4) Tell us about a favorite summer memory you have of being a kid (the time you caught the big one, learning to swim, summer camp, etc).

Do any one (or more) of these.

Out of this I will take (2). Not surprising as I am teacher and love giving homework!

Give us some fun activities to do during the summer

We have done some of these as children but we have forgotten to have fun all by ourselves. So here goes for all those grown-ups with kiddie hearts. (You can take the help of your kids but it shouldn't be other way around!)

a) Learn to play a musical instrument. If you know to play any instrument, try learning another one.

b) Visit any old-age home or orphanage and interact with the residents there in any way you deem fit. You can read, organise some games, play, sing, anything

c) Visit museums, art exhibitions, theatres, drama groups....any one or all and tell us about your experiences.

d) Get that camera out and take photographs of day to day ordinary stuff from different angles and make us guess what it is.

e) Read at least one book which is out of your comfort zone...i.e., if you read only Romances, try reading Marquez. Or If you read serious stuff, try reading graphic novels, or if you can try poetry reading if you haven't done it until now.

f) Give me something to do in your comments. If I do it, I will let you know and also link it to you.

And if you do any of the above activities, you can write a post about that and let me know.

So let's get going friends, wot say?!

Cool! I do hope to visit a few museums this summer. And I visit a nursing home every week with my dog AND I'm taking a class this month to learn something new: boat navigation. Plus I will be attempting to tutor a HS kid in Trigonometry in July/August which I hope will be fun.
You have given terrific ideas!

I went to a musuem yesterday with the kids and thoroughly enjoyed it. I always take lots of photos too.

Perhaps you could try scrapbooking?

Take a walk and photograph all the local flora. Then share the photos on your blog.

My answers are up.

What a great number of things to do. I worked full time at a museum for 5 years (and still miss it, although I am in another "trade" right now) and find it a great way to spend summer. Perhaps not ALL summer, but I love visiting museums when I am on vacation :-)

I like suggestion no. 4. Great ideas all of them. Happy Sunday!

I love the photography suggestion. I may have to use that this summer with my cousins.

My suggestion for something to do is learn how to play frisbee golf!

I love the photography idea too. A photo everyday would make a nice calendar scrapbook.
